BREAKING STEELERS NEWS – The future fifth-round draft pick acquired for Santonio Holmes from the New York Jets is already being questioned by the police about an incident that will happen in the next year.
Official reports claim the draft pick’s identity will not be determined until after this year’s draft, but sources say he will be cited/arrested/sued for a disorderly conduct/battery/sexual assault incident by next off-season. He is expected to offer little to the team in terms of on-field productivity, but will fill an obvious void in the gossip column left by the departure of Holmes.
When asked to comment, Steelers owner Dan Rooney was optimistic about the latest Steeler acquisition’s impending legal troubles. “We will withhold judgment regarding his situation until the charge-in-question is committed and all the facts are in. I strongly believe this future draft-pick, whoever he may be, will deal with these inevitable issues in a professional manner.” When asked if trading him for a lower round pick in the 2011 draft to avoid further embarassment to the team was a possibility, Rooney said he would not rule that out.
“The team’s reputation is on the line,” said Rooney, “and we will not let one player’s off-field actions tarnish the long standing tradition of Steeler football.” When asked if Roethlisberger’s multiple infractions over the past year would be dealt with in a similar fashion, Rooney would not comment.
